Travel

Passports

A valid passport (and visa if applicable) is required for all persons entering Ghana. Ghana Missions and Embassies abroad will assist in issuing individual as well as group visas. A Travellers Declaration Form (TDF) must be filled by all arriving and departing travellers (including children). Yellow Fever vaccination is required for visitors from infected areas and from Yellow Fever infected zones except for children under one year old.

(For more information please contact the Secretariat or the nearest Ghana diplomatic mission.)

Airport Reception

Conference participants will be met at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra by a reception committee. It is important that delegates register as far in advance as possible, indicating by fax, telex, e-mail or letter the date of their arrival, flight number and airline and whether they will be accompanied.

Transport

A modern international airport connects Accra to many overseas destinations. In addition to the national airline, Ghana Airways, other international airlines operate services to Accra. Land travel can be made to other major cities in Ghana by hired Self-Drive Cars, Chauffeur Driven Cars, Mini Touring Buses, Inter-city Buses and unmetered Taxis.

Exchange & Banking Service

Ghana's currency is the cedi () which comes in denominations of 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000. Foreign currency can be freely exchanged at any Forex Bureaux in the country. Apart from Forex Bureaux, some commercial banks also exchange foreign currency. Banks are normally open from 8.30a.m - 2.00pm, Monday through Thursday and until 3.00pm on Friday. All banks and Forex Bureaux accept Travellers' cheques although the rate of exchange may be slightly lower than for a cash transaction. The most widely accepted credit cards are American Express, Diners and Visa. Your card may be used for payment at nearly all airlines, leading hotels and major supermarkets.

Hotels

A wide range of hotel accommodation from five-star to budget category one-star hotels is located close to the Accra International Conference Centre.
